Do not buy Lenovo!
Lenovo is a shit company that broke my laptop within warranty period and refused to fix it. I sent in my laptop within its warranty period because it wouldn't boot up anymore. 2 weeks later they call me saying the laptop has physical damage so I have to pay to fix it. When I sent it in the laptop had 0 physical damage and definitely didn't have broken plastic like they were saying. Some worker dropped my laptop then blamed me and said it was already broken. I spent hours on the phone to various people who told me multiple lies and contradictions that I documented. Finally I spoke to the Services compliance manager for the entire Asia-pacfic region, he screwed me around for a week and then told me to sue Lenovo and they were never going to fix my laptop. His name is Holland Winfield and he's a piece of shit and so is that dude at Lenovo who broke my laptop and lied about it.
Edit: The Lenovo shills have already found this post and are downvoting lol.

This WIRED article from 1997 is terrifying in how it describes our current reality.
7 years before Facebook was turned on, 4 years before 9/11 and the Patriot Act, before Snowden and and deepfakes and a worldwide lockdown, John Carlin wrote about the next phase of conflict we were entering, as a species, and it was eerily prescient.
He quotes a Chinese army newspaper about their own preparations in '97, which reads like a Russian election-meddling playbook:
Information warfare includes electronic warfare, tactical deception, strategic deterrence, propaganda warfare, psychological warfare, network warfare, and structural sabotage.
He describes a digitized world we've come to know as home:
I-war trashes time-honored distinctions between law enforcement and intelligence, between Americans and foreigners, between the kinds of surveillance permitted at home and what starts at the water's edge.
He points out beginnings of what led to Snowden:
One proposal quietly making the rounds on Capitol Hill is to let the NSA engage in domestic monitoring, partly on the theory that digital technology makes distinctions between "domestic" and "foreign" artificial. Where's the water's edge in cyberspace?
The thinking behind the EARN IT act:
...despite broad-based encryption's obvious merit as part of an I-war defense, the NSA and the FBI oppose it out of hand, on the grounds - not entirely unreasonable - that it makes their mission of listening in on potential enemies more problematic.
The national divide:
...it is a fair bet that paranoid demagoguery will not be absent. It's happened before: look at the 1950s. The best will lack all conviction, the worst will be full of passionate intensity, and the political fabric will start to fray.
And ends it with this:
All of which, of course, could sound a lot like what our Chinese friends call "soft destruction." As William Church says, "The most damaging form of I-war is political war or psychological war." And pretty much anything can be part of it: power outages, network breakdowns, clever disinformation campaigns - anything "to get the populace to feel that the country is going to hell."
Those whom the I-war gods would destroy, they first make mad.
Anyone else feel they've gone mad?

Beware! Comcast is acting fishy with their corona virus policy of not charging you for your overages.
Today I got a bill from Comcast which had over $140 in overage charges (have 3 roommates that were laid off and are on Netflix constantly). I was told previously a week ago that during corona virus they are suspending charging people for overages and that at that time unlimited data was not available.
So today I call them and ask they guy why they were charging me. The guy pretends to not know of the policy and actually implied that the previous representative is lying. At this point I ask him to give me a manager. (went full Karen) he puts me on hold.
Comes back says he can't find a manager. Puts me on hold
Comes back, can't find manager, tries sales pitch. I'm not biting, get me manager. Put on hold.
Comes back tries sales pitch again but more aggressively. Pitches me on unlimited data, which wasn't available a week ago. I'm incredulous, say I might agree but I want to talk to a manager first. Put on hold.
He comes back again, this time I cut him off, tell him in more colorful language that I'm sick of being jerked around, he then transfers me to a number with an automated message that hangs up on me.
Call again. Get a different guy, give him the old " the last guy just wasted an hour of my time so before you even get into your little speech I want to talk to the manager immediately".
He actually gets me the manager within 2 minutes 🤔
I tell the manager about the policy of not charging overage charges from March 13th to may 13th.
the manager literally tells me that's not true, and that I have to pay the overages. So I actually read their policy off their website back to him. He puts me on hold.
He comes back and tries a popular tactic, date confusion. He reads back my bill and it's billing date at a rapid pace in an attempt to confuse me. When I call him out as dates after March 13th he seems to backtrack.
Here is the weird part. His explanation was that they send me the whole bill which was 250.25 and the 140.00 would be credited to the next bill.
Problem is I still have to pay that 250.25 up front, and there is no guarantee that I will actually get that 140 rebate.
I think their whole operation in the way they handled this interaction was suspicious as hell. They first used the ah forget it technique in which they keep putting me on hold until I give up. They tried to lie and tell me that wasn't their policy twice by both representative and manager. They tried to confuse and distract and when that didn't work they said it would be credited.
I think they are going to bill people and those that didn't catch it will be charged in full. I'm posting this so that everyone can check their Xfinity bills and make sure they aren't scamming you.
Remember March 13 to may 13 it is their policy to not charge you. They have the right to change this as this is their policy, however they are doing this for Goodwill and publicity. If they turn around and actually charge people that should be public knowledge.

What happen to the limited infrastructure that couldn't handle the future of Netflix, need for data caps?
So all I ever heard was infrastructure can't handle the strain of Netflix, Piracy, streaming, shopping etc. Well all the Zoom Meetings, Elearning, unfortunately out of work , the work from home is more traffic than the country has ever seen, and I haven't heard of any disasters. They like to make the public think fiber was like a plastic straw with only so many gallons of water go though and that was it so more room for more pipe well?
That being said, after normalcy returns AT&T etc. what will be their reasons for data caps?
