IAMA Freelance Journalist Researching Social Media ID Verification Policies
Hi everyone! I'm Erin Marie Miller. I’m a freelance journalist based in Metro Detroit. My work focuses on small business, social issues, and my region’s emerging “Small Tech” industry. You can check out some of my clips here: www.erinmariemiller.com/journalism.
As part of the preliminary research process for a possible story covering social media ID verification policies, I'm hosting an IAMA on r/privacy talk about the debate surrounding these kinds of policies and their potential impact on user privacy. I'd also like to learn more about users' thoughts, concerns, and experiences.
If you’ve been locked out of your social media account and asked to provide your ID to restore access (or had an experience with a similar policy), I want to hear your story. My goal for this IAMA is to hear from real people about how these obtrusive social media policies are impacting their sense of privacy and everyday lives, so that I can write an article about it and hopefully draw more attention to the issue.
Please join me for a rolling IAMA at r/privacy on 5/28 @ 12 p.m. EST until 5/30 @ 12 p.m. EST to talk about social media identity verification policies and privacy with a freelance journalist researching the subject.
Hope to see everyone there!
